SPECIALIST PACKAGING MADE SPECIAL
When it comes to manufacturing cardboard packaging, a box is never just a box.
Specialist industries are governed by rules which mean they can only use packaging that meets very stringent requirements. Most are subject to legal, industry or in some cases government regulations and approvals.
In Australia, there are many specialist packaging industries including the food, beverage or
pharmaceutical industry, just to name a few.
If you are looking for a specialist packaging box, start by considering these very important factors:
Material Standards
Most packaging is made from cardboard, but every style and design will have varying benefits. It’s important to choose the right material to meet every standard and at Pakko our packaging can be customised to meet most industry requirements.
Some of the materials we use:
Artboard (coated) – Coated stock will either be gloss or matte and the colours will appear brighter than uncoated stock. It is also resistant to general wear and tear. (Ideal for some pharmaceutical packaging)
Artboard (uncoated) – Uncoated stock has no gloss or any textured finish though still has a quality print finish (Ideal for some pharmaceutical packaging and e-commerce business)
Corrugated Cardboard is very sturdy. It is made from paper that is folded over, called fluting, which sits between two liners. It’s strong, long lasting and is most often used for products that require protection. (Ideal for some fresh fruit packaging)
Fibreboard is a multi ply board with brown kraft liners on both sides. It is extremely durable and oil/grease resistant. (Ideal for the spare parts box)
Know your Product
If you are a vegetable producer your packaging needs will be vastly different to that of a candle-maker.
For example, food packaging, is subject to multiple different industry standards according to food type. Packaging for fresh fruit and vegetable has a different set of standards compared to packaging for frozen fruits and vegetables.
