We Are ready For 2025! Are You?

We believe that goals are best achieved and exceeded when we all work together to create a packaging future that supports our entire, Australian industry.

Here are some tips to get started on your own Sustainable Packaging Journey:
01 Take stock

Firstly, take stock. Review the materials you are currently using and determine what is sustainable and what isn’t.

02 Assess supply chain

Take a close look at your supply chain and production stages, assess and take steps to understand every stage concerning sustainable vs. non-sustainable.

03 Talk to your suppliers and customers

Ask them to help with transitioning to materials that are  100% recyclable,

04 Workshop and start the conversation with your team

that encourages innovation using renewable materials like cardboard, paper and wood fibre.

05 Define what that means for your company

Outline your own vision for sustainable design across every level of the design process.

06 Communicate your sustainability goals

Engage both your suppliers and customers in your plan!  Ask for feedback and share information at every stage in the sustainability process.

The Pathway To 2025

Achieving our goals for a sustainable packaging future depends on how we collaborate, co-operate and work together.  As we work towards a fully sustainable future,

Meeting and, in some cases, exceeding the 2025 National Packaging Targets is about engaging with our team, our customers and our suppliers at every stage of the packaging production process.

The 2025 Packaging Sustainability Targets are supported by the Australian Packaging Industry and the Australian Government. They apply to all packaging that is made, used and sold in Australia and include:

100%

of packaging being reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025

70%

of plastic packaging will be recycled or composted by 2025

50%

of average recycled content included in packaging by 2025

Phase out

The phase-out of problematic and unnecessary single-use plastic packaging by 2025
